Crews from the Pittsfield Fire Department responded to Wendy’s at 12:15 a.m. on Monday, June 28, where there was a fire reported in the kitchen of the Hubbard Avenue restaurant.
Officials said that firefighters found a small fire in the kitchen that was quickly extinguished. The fire broke out when the cleaning crew was moving a gas-fed stove, at which point flames erupted from behind the vessel.
Further investigation by Berkshire Gas found that there was a small gas leak that fueled the fire.
No injuries were reported, though Wendy’s was temporarily closed. It is expected to reopen on Tuesday, June 29.
